There are many ways you can get involved in the camp. Here are a few general ideas, see our Needs and Golf-A-Thon pages for more specifics.
Pray…
- As in individual. Choose one day of the week to lift up SMBC.
- As a family. Choose one meal during the week and pray specifically for SMBC.
- As a church. Add SMBC to your prayer list.
What to pray?
- God would soften the hearts of adults and campers as they prepare for their time on the mountain.
- God would speak to each person who visits SMBC and change each person’s world as a result of what happened to them during their camp experience.
- God would continue to meet all of SMBC’s financial needs.
Come…
- And bring some teens and children to sMBC. Do you remember the person who brought you to camp? Remember the great memories you made during those summers? Make it possible for a new generation of campers to create those memories.
- And bring a work group to SMBC. Call Caleb to schedule a day to come and invest some “sweat equity.”
- And bring a friend. If you appreciate the spiritual impact of this ministry on others, be an advocate for the camp to those who may not have an awareness of its value and significance. Schedule a time to bring your pastor or other lay leaders to visit SMBC. Call Mary at 828-437-8788 to schedule a visit.
Give…
- To build an indoor recreation building, so campers will have a place when the weather is bad. Currently our building fund is $4762.
- To renovate the Byrd Retreat Center. Each room costs $1000 to completely renovate. Give so that adult groups will be encouraged as they use this facility. We have 8 rooms left to renovate.
To become a part of Gideon’s Army. We’re collecting an “army” of 300 that will pledge to give $25 a month to the general fund. Already we’ve had 3 individuals who have stepped up to the challenge to be a part of this group. If you are a past staff member, what a great way to continue to affect the kingdom by giving this small amount each month.
